Ferrite Magnets (Ceramic Magnets), a type of permanent magnet, are produced by calcining a mixture of iron oxide (Fe2O3) and strontium carbonate (SrCO3).

The production cost is very low. In addition to a low production cost, sintered ferrite  is durable under severe environmental conditions and resists corrosion, making it one of the most widely used permanent magnets.

Applications

Ferrite magnets are used across a variety of applications, including audio equipment, motors, motorbikes, automobile motors and green energy. Sintered ferrite is often used in products like speakers, DC motors, compressors and wind turbine generators.

Injection molded ferrite magnets (Plastic ferrite magnets)

Injection molded ferrite magnets are made from permanent magnetic powder (ferrite or rare earth ) and thermoplastic matrix material (PA 6, PA 12, PPS). Magnetic material can be inserted directly in or against the shaft of other components, eliminating additional assembly processes. In addition, changing ferrite to SmCo or Neodymium can deliver a higher energy product. The thermostability of this type of magnet is affected by its binder. With the PPS, the operating temperature can achieve as high as 200℃.

Rubber magnets (flexible magnets) are made of permanent magnetic powder (ferrite and rare earth materials) mixed with synthetic rubber binder via the extrusion or calendaring process. Its superior elasticity, derived from nitrile rubber, makes it widely used in advertising products such as refrigerator magnets, bin markers, die-cut magnets and display boards. Rubber magnets are also found in industrial and automotive products including micro motors, cooling fans and rotors for dc motors.
